The Inquiry
Committee is appointed by Council in accordance with
Section
52 of The Medical Act. The Committee
consists of a Councillor who serves as Chair of the Committee and
other members of the College, former members of the College, public
representatives or other persons as are appointed by Council from
time to time. At least one third of the persons
appointed to the Inquiry Committee must be public
representatives.
From time to
time, matters are referred to the Inquiry Committee by the
Investigation
Committee pursuant to
subsection
47(1) of The Medical Act. When a
matter is referred to the Inquiry Committee, the Chair of that
Committee selects a panel from among the members of the Inquiry
Committee to hold a hearing. Panels are composed of at
least three members, at least one of whom must be a public
representative.
