Pursuant to Section
51(1) of The Medical Act, when the Investigation
Committee makes a decision under Section
47(1)(b), (d), (e) or (f), the complainant may appeal the
decision to an Appeal Committee appointed under Section
51(2.1) of The Medical Act. On
receiving an appeal from a decision of the Investigation
Committee, the President of Council is required to appoint an
Appeal Committee consisting of no more than three members of the
Council, one of whom must be a public representative and must
appoint a member of that Committee to sit as Chair.
