Locum Tenens
When a physician wishes to recruit a colleague to
carry out the practice of medicine in his/her place and to have
that colleague bill in his/her place and in his/her
name, the College must be advised in
advance and approve the specific time
interval. Only when written approval is received may a
physician act in place of another. Without written
approval as a locum tenens, one physician may replace another but
must act and bill independently.
