Intravenous Ketamine Administration

Quality Prescribing Practices

To enhance patient safety CPSM has updated the Accredited Facilities Bylaw to include the intravenous administration of ketamine, whether an off-label use or not. The administration of ketamine for off-label purposes is now only permitted in CPSM-accredited, non-hospital medical or surgical facilities or in hospitals.

Any facility (excluding hospitals) administering ketamine intravenously will now require accreditation by the Non-Hospital Medical/Surgical Facilities program.
