5 Tips for completing your annual Certificate of Practice renewal

September 23, 2026 |
Registration Media Release

CPSM registrants are required to renew their Certificate of Practice annually.

Medical Corporations must also complete renewals at this time.

Renewal consists of an online questionnaire and payment of the renewal fee, both completed online. The renewal is best completed on a computer or tablet (a smartphone is not recommended).

The deadline for renewal is October 31, 2026.

Below are tips to help you complete your renewal efficiently.

1. RENEWAL MUST BE COMPLETED BY REGISTRANTS ONLY.

As a CPSM registrant, completing your annual renewal is an important part of your professional accountability.

The renewal must be completed by you, the registrant; please do not ask others (e.g., spouse, partner, or administrative staff) to complete the renewal on your behalf.

2. SET ASIDE 20-30 MINUTES

The renewal consists of a series of questions you must respond to, which take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. Please read the questions carefully, as they may have changed from last year.

To save you time, some questions are auto populated with responses from your previous renewal. Correct any information as necessary to ensure your information remains up to date.

This is your opportunity to update your information and disclose any changes. Notifying CPSM of any updates and changes that may impact your practice is mandatory.

See the list of Disclosure Requirements and Notice of Changes for more details.

3. HAVE YOUR LOGIN INFORMATION READY

You will have received your renewal notice, which includes your username, by email before the end of September. When renewing, please have ready:

Username: Your username will be included in the renewal notice. (Please note that your username is not your email.)

Password: Your password has not changed since your last login. If you have forgotten your password, navigate to the CPSM Portal and select Click Here to Recover Your Password to change your password.

You can find the CPSM Portal login on the top right corner of any page on the CPSM website.

Once your payment has been made, a receipt will be available to download directly from the CPSM portal.

4. NEW QUESTIONS ADDED

We have made some changes to the questions this year. We are gathering and organizing information to capture a more comprehensive understanding of how registrants are practicing across Manitoba to support regulation. New this year:

  • Expanded professional practice questions about registrants' scope of practice, including recent or planned changes to practice activities, and the extent and nature of virtual medicine services being provided.
  • A redesigned legal and regulatory disclosure component. You will be asked to review and confirm more structured disclosure information, including external complaints and investigations, civil claims, criminal matters, restraining orders, and other reportable proceedings.

5. AVOID LATE PENALTIES BY COMPLETING YOUR RENEWAL BY OCTOBER 31

The deadline for renewal is October 31. Renewals completed after this date are subject to late penalties.

On November 1, a late fee will be applied.

On December 1, a late fee, plus an additional daily, late fee will apply.

See the table below for more details.
